Mpd not updating

This guide is just going to cover some of the basics, but feel free to explore a bit more.

The first option to pay attention to is probably the most important one, the music directory.

" cheers Ian Thanks Ian I have asked it to update in every possible way.

mpd not updating-18

The variable itself is, and accepts a directory path as a string in quotes.

This is the directory where the music that MPD will serve exists.

I am new to Voyage MPD and attempting to sort out anomolies with MPD DB.

I use WAV files ripped with EAC on a WDLivebook NAS.

Of course, you probably don’t want the default configuration, so shut down the service with Systemd, so you can start working on setting it up how you like. There are other ways to configure it, including user specific configs, but it’s much easier to just use the system-wide version that ships with MPD.

Open it up with Vim, or your favorite editor, and start looking around.

When I removed the USB stick and set MPD to use /music/Music, It refused to update the Tag_cache file. When I first boot Voyage MPD the MPD client sees the old file contents.

After booting up, MPD searches the directory for about 5 mins and then the directory structure displays correctly and the WAV files can be played. I pointed MPD db_file my NAS directory it would not create a new db. It thinks there is still the usb stick exactly as I used it that first time.

Not only does MPD allow music to be shared and played over the network, but it also allows for numerous different front end clients.

These clients range from full graphical music players to minimal command line options. Ubuntu will unpack everything and start up the daemon.

Any ideas why MPD only sees a subset of the files on my NAS? I understand that mpc update should cause mpd to delete old entries from db file and create new ones.
